• The African Queens is a social enterprise that was created by a group of women based in the Kouga area. They make and sell traditional beaded products and food items.
  • One of the many skills and training courses include the operation of a tractor. Once completed, each participant receive a certificate outlining the skills taught.

As part of community development and corporate responsibility towards the communities within its service area, Humansdorp Agricultural Corporation, now also part of the SSK Group, strives to make a meaningful and worthy difference. With this aim in mind, the company established the Community Restoration Charitable Trust in 2016. Today, better known as the Community Trust, it continues to serve as a key vehicle for the business’s Corporate Social Investment Strategy.

The ABCD approach (Asset-Based Community Development) forms the building block on which the Trust is built and is used to serve, develop, grow and promote greater community engagement in four main areas.

The Community Trust is passionate about making a sustainable difference in communities. It works with resources that are already available, rather than with expectations. Local businesses, projects and companies are invited to be part of this positive impact and co-invest in the goal of enabling empowered, prosperous and sustainable communities in Africa. The Community Trust spots talent and helps to realize dreams, even where hope does not always exist.
